NAME | FUNCTION |
VAGINA | Enables sperm to enter during sexual intercourse and forms a passage route for childbirth. |
UTERUS | It is in the uterus, also referred to as womb, that fertilisation occurs and the foetus develops during pregnancy. |
OVARY | The ovaries produce eggs (ovum) and the hormones Oestrogen and Progesterone. |
FALLOPIAN TUBES | When an egg is fertilized by a sperm, known as conception, this normally happens in the fallopian tubes. |
VULVA | The term ‘vulva’ refers to all the external genitals of the female. It comprises mons pubis, labia, clitoris, hymen, vaginal orifice, urethral orifice. |
PERINEUM | The perineum is a diamond shaped area that contains all the external genitals and anus. |
