Utilisation of Nutrients in the Digestive System

As food travels through the digestive system, macromolecules required by the body are absorbed and utilised. The absorption of macromolecules is important in enabling growth, promoting health and enabling the body to function properly.

PROTEINS

Promotes growth and repairs cells.

WATER

An intake of 2-3 litres per day is needed. It facilitates transportation, digestion, excretion, chemical and metabolic reactions. Helps regulate body temperature.
