Function of the Cranial Nerves
Unit: Nervous System

The function of the Cranial Nerves

There are twelve pairs of cranial nerves that are sourced directly from the brain in the central nervous system (CNS) to form part of the peripheral nervous system (PNS).

They control the motor and sensory functions mainly related to the head and neck. The cranial nerves are formed from the nose, eyes, inner ear, brain stem and spinal cord.
