Structure of a Lymph Node
Unit: Lymphatic System

Structure of a Lymph Node

Lymph nodes are small rounded forms of tissue surrounded by a capsule of connective tissue. These nodes can be found in the lymphatic system throughout the body.

Lymphatic fluid is filtered by the lymph nodes, trapping bacteria and other foreign particles in special cells that travel in the fluid as it goes past.

Lymph nodes produce two types of white blood cells called macrophages and lymphocytes and these are instrumental in fighting infections.
